Washington DC to Richmond, VA
Starting your trip in Washington, DC is a real treat! There are so many things that you can do in the nation's capitol and within just a few short miles of DC, itself. You could visit the Smithsonian, tour the national monuments and memorials, tour the three houses of government, take a walk through Georgetown, ride a bike along the C & O Canal, see a show or concert at the Kennedy Center, attend a concert at Wolftrap Farm Park, take a hike at Great Falls Park, explore Mount Vernon, see the Pentagon, visit Arlington Cemetery, or take a walking tour of Old Town, Alexandria.
108 miles south of DC, is Richmond, VA. Richmond dates back to the early seventeenth century, and is crucial to the development of the colony of Virginia, the United States Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. Richmond attracted businesses from the seventeenth century that were relocating from other parts of the country as one of the northernmost cities of the right-to-work states. While here, visit the Black History Museum and Cultural Center, the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, the Metro Richmond Zoo, the Museum and White House of the Confederacy, the Paramount's Kings Dominion, the Science Museum of Virginia, the Three Lakes Nature Center and Aquarium, or the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Then the trip back to DC, is only about 100 miles. This is a great trip to learn and have fun!
