5.03 reviewsGreensport RV Park and Campground sits on the shores of Neely Henry Lake along the Coosa River in Ashville, Alabama, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at the edge of St. Clair County's quiet lake country. The greensport rv park is a developing waterfront property with an active expansion plan, combining full-service RV camping with lake access, marina infrastructure, and a range of on-site recreation that makes it a genuine destination rather than a highway stop.
All sites at Greensport offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp service, city water, and sewer, with more sites and amenities being added as the property continues to develop. Current recreation infrastructure is already substantial: two outdoor swimming pools, a petting zoo, basketball court, hiking trails, a fenced dog park, jump pillow, playground, and a fully stocked general store cover the land-side activity roster. The marina, private boat ramp, and direct lake access complete the water-side picture, and two laundry rooms with clean private bathrooms and showers handle the practical camping logistics that day-to-day life on the road demands.
The Coosa River and Neely Henry Reservoir form the backbone of a lakes region that stretches across Etowah and St. Clair counties, where the water is flanked by the rolling Appalachian foothills that give northeastern Alabama its characteristic topography. Ashville is the St. Clair County seat, a small town with a genuine courthouse-square downtown that reflects the agricultural and small-industry history of the Alabama hill country. The lake system supporting the park offers bass fishing, catfishing, crappie, and species diversity that keeps serious anglers occupied through every season.
Gadsden, about 20 minutes north on US-431, is the largest city in northeastern Alabama and provides full commercial services alongside Noccalula Falls Park—a municipal park centered on a 90-foot waterfall dropping into a Black Creek gorge—and access to the broader Coosa River recreational corridor that extends up through Rainbow City. Little River Canyon National Preserve, about 45 minutes northeast, protects one of the deepest canyons east of the Mississippi, with 15 miles of canyon-top drives, hiking trails to waterfalls, and river access for kayaking. Cheaha Mountain, Alabama's highest point at 2,413 feet, is within easy day-trip range and provides outstanding views across the Talladega National Forest.
Greensport RV Park and Campground offers year-round access to one of Alabama's better lake camping experiences in a region that has historically been overlooked compared to the state's Gulf Coast and mountain destinations. The combination of a growing amenity set, direct lake and marina access, and proximity to the natural and cultural attractions of northeastern Alabama makes this a property worth watching as it continues to develop.

Greensport is a beautiful campground. More amenities than I’ve seen at other campgrounds. I do not have small children but it would be an ideal place to camp with children as there is so much for them to do.
The only improvement I would like to see is the general store. It needs to be bigger and carry more i...Show more
