Hester's Bottoms Campground
Located in Mt. Carmel, South Carolina, Hester’s Bottoms is a beautiful campground that sits on the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Lake (also known as Clarks Hill Lake). Under new management since March of 2021, the campground offers 39 waterfront RV sites and five waterfront primitive sites. All of the sites include WiFi, and the RV sites offer 50-, 30-, and 20-amp services.

Check-In Procedure
- Check-in time: 2:00 p.m.
- Check-out time: 1:00 p.m.
- If you arrive earlier than 2:00 pm on your scheduled day, we do not guarantee that your site will be cleaned, and we reserve the right to charge a $30 fee.
- If you arrive a day or more prior, we reserve the right to ask you to vacate the site.
- If you are allowed to stay, you will be charged the nightly fee for each day.
- When available, you can request a late check-out for $30.
- A late check-out will allow you the opportunity to stay until 4:00 p.m.
- This requires prior approval and is based on the availability of the site.
- While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement.
Guest Expectations & Etiquette
- Hester’s Bottoms Campground works hard to serve all our guests and hopes that everyone visiting the park has an enjoyable experience.
- We encourage guests to follow the camp rules and respect other campers.
WIFI
- We offer free Wi-Fi for all sites within the park.
- The password for Campers is Camping123!
Violation
- Violation of any of the campground rules and regulations can result in removal from the park with no refund.
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Under Age
- No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to camp overnight without adult supervision.
Trash
- All trash must be taken to the dumpsters located at the dump station.
- No bottles, cans, or cigarette butts left on the grounds or sites.
Vehicles
- All vehicles must display their parking pass while in the park.
- There are 2 parking passes included with each site rental, 4 with buddy sites.
- Visit the general store to obtain a parking pass ($3) for any additional vehicles.
- Hester’s Bottoms is not responsible for any and all vehicles on campground premises.
Per Site
- Only one (1) RV camper per individual site.
- Only two (2) RV campers per buddy site.
Fireworks
- No fireworks permitted.
Speed Limit
- Speed Limit of 5 mph is strictly enforced.
- Always yield to children and golf carts.
SXS, Mini-bikes, 3- 4 Wheelers
- SXS, mini-bikes, 3-4 wheelers are not allowed.
Golf Carts
- Battery-powered golf Carts are allowed.
- Drivers must be 16 years old and hold a valid driver’s license to operate a cart.
- Proof of insurance needs to be presented to the general store.
- No one is to be driving under the influence of alcohol at any time.
ATV, UTV, etc.
- No ATV’s, UTV’s or any gas-powered vehicles (other than a car or truck) are permitted.
Pets
- Pets are welcome (with the exception of Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and Chow)
- All pets must be registered at the general store with an up-to-date vaccination record.
- All pets must be leashed at all times and cleaned after.
- We ask that you respect your camping neighbors by not allowing your pets to disturb others’ campsites.
Children
- Registered campers are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children and guests at all times.
- Campers will assume responsibility for any damage or injury caused by their children or guests, regardless of age.
Visiting Hours
- Visiting hours are from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
- Guests can get a parking pass for $3.
Quiet hours
- Quiet hours begin at 10:00 pm and noise should be kept to a minimum until 6:00 am.
- This includes the operation of TVs, radios, music systems, and boisterous behavior.
- If someone is not adhering to the quiet hours, we encourage guests to contact the McCormick Sheriff's Office to report their concern.
- We stand by any decisions that the police see fit, up to and including permanent expulsion from the park.
Legal Age
- Legal drinking age is 21 and will be enforced.
Firearms and Weapons Regulations
- Possession or discharge of firearms, BB Guns, slingshots, bows and arrows, paintball guns, and/or fireworks is strictly forbidden.
No Hunting
- No hunting.
Cutting or Nailing into Trees
- Cutting or nailing into trees is strictly prohibited.
- Do not break branches or attempt to debark trees.
No Digging
- No digging on campground premises.
Washing of RV's
- Washing of cars and RV’s is not allowed.
Campfires
- Campfires must be of a reasonable size.
- Build campfires in rings only.
- Burn wood only- no cans, bottles, or trash.
Cancellation Policy
MODERATE
If the guest cancels at least 1 week before your check-in day and time, they will receive a full refund (minus Spot2Nite convenience or resort fees). If the guest cancels within the 1 week before check-in, there will be no refund.
