Located in Mt. Carmel, South Carolina, Hester’s Bottoms is a beautiful campground that sits on the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Lake (also known as Clarks Hill Lake). Under new management since March of 2021, the campground offers 39 waterfront RV sites and five waterfront primitive sites. All of the sites include WiFi, and the RV sites offer 50-, 30-, and 20-amp services.

Frequently Asked Questions Are you open all year? - Yes, we will be open all year. Do you have openings for the summer? - Yes. - We are currently booked for the summer holidays and Halloween, but there are many other weekends that are available all year. - Visit our booking link to see our availability and schedule your visit. How far out can I book? - Right now, we have opened reservations through December 31. - When you book online, the software keeps track of your information and how much you camp with us. - So near the end of each six-month period, we will pull the list and allow those people a chance to book first for the next six months. - This is our way of thanking our guests for choosing us. - We anticipate that we will open the first six months of 2022 in the Fall. You have a 3-night minimum? - Yes, from March through November, we have a 3-night minimum. - During the planning phase, we spoke with several campers who expressed frustrations over the weekends always being full so they can never book a full week for their families. - We are hoping that this will help with that. - If you can only stay for the weekend, then I suggest booking Friday – Monday and taking advantage of Sunday because you won’t have to leave early. When is check-in/check-out? - Check out is by 1:00 am, and check-in begins at 2:00 pm. Do you offer senior citizens discounts? - We offer a 10% discount to all seniors over 65, all veterans, military, and first responders. - The eligible person or persons must be camping and will be required to show proper identification. - Without a valid ID, they will be required to pay regular fees. I have already booked, and the discount wasn’t present. Will I get a credit? - Yes, if you show a valid ID at check-in, we will credit you. Any other discounts? - We offer a 7-day camping special of 10% off the entire stay. My reservation says that my site may change. Why is that? - Our booking software offers a lock feature to parks that require guests to pay to lock their site. - We do not participate in this program. - So, you will be on the site that you chose with no extra fees. Can I put my RV on the primitive sites with a generator? - Sure. - You are more than welcome to do that. - I just suggest that you don’t forget to fill your water tank prior to coming into the park, since there is also no water currently on those sites.

Rules

Check-In Procedure - Check-in time: 2:00 p.m. - Check-out time: 1:00 p.m. - If you arrive earlier than 2:00 pm on your scheduled day, we do not guarantee that your site will be cleaned, and we reserve the right to charge a $30 fee. - If you arrive a day or more prior, we reserve the right to ask you to vacate the site. - If you are allowed to stay, you will be charged the nightly fee for each day. - When available, you can request a late check-out for $30. - A late check-out will allow you the opportunity to stay until 4:00 p.m. - This requires prior approval and is based on the availability of the site. - While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement. Guest Expectations & Etiquette - Hester’s Bottoms Campground works hard to serve all our guests and hopes that everyone visiting the park has an enjoyable experience. - We encourage guests to follow the camp rules and respect other campers. WIFI - We offer free Wi-Fi for all sites within the park. - The password for Campers is Camping123! Violation - Violation of any of the campground rules and regulations can result in removal from the park with no refund. - We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Under Age - No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to camp overnight without adult supervision. Trash - All trash must be taken to the dumpsters located at the dump station. - No bottles, cans, or cigarette butts left on the grounds or sites. Vehicles - All vehicles must display their parking pass while in the park. - There are 2 parking passes included with each site rental, 4 with buddy sites. - Visit the general store to obtain a parking pass ($3) for any additional vehicles. - Hester’s Bottoms is not responsible for any and all vehicles on campground premises. Per Site - Only one (1) RV camper per individual site. - Only two (2) RV campers per buddy site. Fireworks - No ﬁreworks permitted. Speed Limit - Speed Limit of 5 mph is strictly enforced. - Always yield to children and golf carts. SXS, Mini-bikes, 3- 4 Wheelers - SXS, mini-bikes, 3-4 wheelers are not allowed. Golf Carts - Battery-powered golf Carts are allowed. - Drivers must be 16 years old and hold a valid driver’s license to operate a cart. - Proof of insurance needs to be presented to the general store. - No one is to be driving under the inﬂuence of alcohol at any time. ATV, UTV, etc. - No ATV’s, UTV’s or any gas-powered vehicles (other than a car or truck) are permitted. Pets - Pets are welcome (with the exception of Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and Chow) - All pets must be registered at the general store with an up-to-date vaccination record. - All pets must be leashed at all times and cleaned after. - We ask that you respect your camping neighbors by not allowing your pets to disturb others’ campsites. Children - Registered campers are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children and guests at all times. - Campers will assume responsibility for any damage or injury caused by their children or guests, regardless of age. Visiting Hours - Visiting hours are from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. - Guests can get a parking pass for $3. Quiet hours - Quiet hours begin at 10:00 pm and noise should be kept to a minimum until 6:00 am. - This includes the operation of TVs, radios, music systems, and boisterous behavior. - If someone is not adhering to the quiet hours, we encourage guests to contact the McCormick Sheriﬀ's Oﬃce to report their concern. - We stand by any decisions that the police see ﬁt, up to and including permanent expulsion from the park. Legal Age - Legal drinking age is 21 and will be enforced. Firearms and Weapons Regulations - Possession or discharge of ﬁrearms, BB Guns, slingshots, bows and arrows, paintball guns, and/or ﬁreworks is strictly forbidden. No Hunting - No hunting. Cutting or Nailing into Trees - Cutting or nailing into trees is strictly prohibited. - Do not break branches or attempt to debark trees. No Digging - No digging on campground premises. Washing of RV's - Washing of cars and RV’s is not allowed. Campfires - Campﬁres must be of a reasonable size. - Build campﬁres in rings only. - Burn wood only- no cans, bottles, or trash.

Cancellation Policy

MODERATE If the guest cancels at least 1 week before your check-in day and time, they will receive a full refund (minus Spot2Nite convenience or resort fees). If the guest cancels within the 1 week before check-in, there will be no refund.
