Flying U Country Store

Joseph, Utah

22 RV Sites, 1 Cabin, 5 Tent Sites

Flying U Country Store and RV Park sits directly off Interstate 70 in Joseph, Utah, in the Sevier River valley at the heart of Sevier County's agricultural and outdoor recreation country—one of central Utah's most practical travel stops and a genuine destination campground for ATV riders, anglers, and travelers positioning for day trips to the national parks and monuments of southern Utah. The property combines a full-service travel stop with country store, grill, and gas station alongside a campground that provides direct launching access to the Paiute ATV Trail network—one of the most extensive off-highway vehicle trail systems in the United States. Full hookup RV sites with water, electric, and sewer service are arranged alongside the country store and grill operation, with a laundry facility, pavilion, shower and bathroom facilities, WiFi, and dump station serving the campground's practical needs. Cabins provide enclosed accommodation for guests who prefer shelter. The on-site grill serves freshly made breakfast sandwiches, burritos, burgers, and comfort food from the country store building, eliminating the need to drive for a meal on a stretch of I-70 where the next full-service food stop may be some distance in either direction. The country store carries snacks, drinks, and travel supplies for the road. The Paiute ATV Trail, accessible directly from the campground, is one of the premier off-highway vehicle experiences in the western United States—a trail network spanning over 500 miles through the high desert and mountain terrain of central Utah's Sevier Plateau, connecting towns, forests, and backcountry terrain in a system that can be ridden for a day or a week depending on how deeply a rider wants to explore the route's full extent. The terrain around Joseph transitions from the sagebrush-and-pinyon landscape of the lower valley floor into the ponderosa pine and aspen country of the Fishlake National Forest as elevation increases, and petroglyphs and red rock formations dot the approach terrain. Fish Lake, in the Fishlake National Forest at 8,848 feet elevation, is about 30 minutes from the campground and provides one of the best high-altitude fishing destinations in central Utah—the lake's natural population of lake trout (locally called mackinaw) and the introduced trout species managed by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources support fishing that draws anglers from across the region. Otter Creek Reservoir, a warm-water impoundment to the south in Piute County, provides a different fishing experience targeting bass, catfish, and walleye in a sheltered canyon setting. Fremont Indian State Park, preserving the largest known collection of Fremont Indian rock art in Utah, is accessible as a day trip. Flying U Country Store and RV Park operates year-round as an I-70 corridor stop and ATV staging destination, with the peak season running from late spring through early fall when the Paiute Trail network and the surrounding national forest terrain are at their best. Capitol Reef National Park is approximately an hour east, Bryce Canyon National Park is about two hours south, and the campground's position on the I-70 corridor between Richfield and Green River makes it a natural overnight for travelers connecting the national park circuit of southern Utah with the I-15 corridor.
