Toutle River RV Resort

Castle Rock, Washington

212 RV Sites, 21 Tent Sites

Toutle River RV Resort sits in Castle Rock, Washington, on the Toutle River—a Cowlitz River tributary whose lower canyon provides private access to the confluence of the Toutle and Cowlitz rivers, widely regarded as one of the premier fishing holes in Washington State, and whose upper drainage leads directly to Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, 10 minutes from the resort's entrance. The combination of a river that Lewis and Clark noted in their journals, one of the world's most famous volcanic eruption sites within day-trip range, and one of the most comprehensively equipped private RV parks in southwest Washington makes Toutle River one of the more fully realized camping destinations in the I-5 corridor. Three hundred and six large full hookup RV sites on leveled gravel pads measuring 6,000 square feet or more and accommodating rigs up to 100 feet provide the scale infrastructure, with 30 and 50-amp service, water, and sewer at each site. The resort's amenity roster is genuinely comprehensive: a 20,000-square-foot pavilion, outdoor pool, hot tub, saunas, sports courts with pickleball, volleyball, and basketball, horseshoes, disc golf, a walking trail to the Toutle River, dog wash station, pet washing station, clubhouse, camp store, WiFi, and playground. Swimming access in the resort's own facilities and along the river trail, combined with the Toutle-Cowlitz confluence fishing access, creates an on-property outdoor recreation environment that rivals what most state parks provide. The Toutle River's confluence with the Cowlitz River—accessible via the resort's walking trail—is the fishery anchor of the campground's location. The confluence zone where two productive Pacific Northwest salmon rivers meet creates the structural conditions—currents, depth changes, and feeding lanes—that concentrate Chinook and coho salmon, steelhead, and sea-run cutthroat during their respective seasonal runs. The resort's private access to this confluence fishing is explicitly one of the few such access points available to the public, and the fishing quality across the combined Toutle and Cowlitz fishery makes it a draw for serious Pacific Northwest salmon and steelhead anglers who position at the resort specifically for the river access. Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is 10 minutes from the resort entrance—close enough to make before-breakfast and after-dinner visits practical without the full-day commitment that visitors staying farther away require. The Spirit Lake Highway provides access to multiple levels of monument interpretation, from the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake through the Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center, Coldwater Lake recreation area, and the Johnston Ridge Observatory at the edge of the blast zone with direct views of the active lava dome and the remarkable ecological recovery of the devastated landscape. Toutle River RV Resort operates through the Pacific Northwest camping season, with the salmon and steelhead fishing seasons providing demand from spring through fall and the volcanic monument driving the educational and scenic visitor traffic that peaks in summer. Castle Rock's I-5 corridor position makes the resort accessible from Seattle (2 hours north) and Portland (40 minutes south), giving it a catchment that extends across both metropolitan areas for weekend stays. The resort's large-site infrastructure, river access, and comprehensive amenity set make it a natural choice for RV travel parties that want the full Pacific Northwest river and volcano experience from a single, well-equipped base.
