4.176 reviewsLocated 1.5 miles from Albuquerque's city limits in New Mexico, American RV Resort has earned recognition from Visit Albuquerque as the top-rated RV park in the metro area—a designation that reflects both the quality of its facilities and its strategic position for visitors exploring New Mexico's largest city and the broader Rio Grande corridor. A southwestern-themed aesthetic runs through the property, complementing the high-desert landscape and visually connecting the campground to the region's signature architectural and natural character.
Every RV site at American RV Resort is outfitted with full hookups including electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, and cable television—a connectivity package that sets the property apart from parks where individual amenities must be arranged separately. Concrete patios and picnic tables at each site extend outdoor living space in a desert climate where shade and a level surface significantly enhance daily comfort. Mountain-view cabins are available for guests seeking a lodging option with elevated views of the Sandia Mountains and the high desert, complete with private decks suited for outdoor dining and evening stargazing. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates accommodate the full spectrum of travel durations and visit types.
Albuquerque's position in the Rio Grande Valley, flanked by the Sandia Mountains to the east and wide desert mesas to the west, defines the natural character of the region surrounding the resort. The Sandia Peak Tramway—one of the longest aerial trams in the world—provides access to the Sandia Crest at nearly 11,000 feet for hiking and panoramic city views, while the Rio Grande Bosque, a cottonwood riparian corridor along the river, supports birding and trail use directly within city limits. The city's high-desert elevation of approximately 5,300 feet moderates summer temperatures compared to lower desert cities in the Southwest.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, held each October, draws visitors from around the world to the city's North Valley and remains the most-photographed annual event in New Mexico. The Acoma Sky City Pueblo, one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America, is reachable on a day trip west along I-40, while the Turquoise Trail scenic byway connecting Albuquerque to Santa Fe passes through historic mining towns and art communities along the Sandia Mountains' western slope.
American RV Resort is open year-round, with October's Balloon Fiesta representing the most competitive booking window of the year—sites reserve months in advance for the event period. Mild winters make Albuquerque an accessible RV destination year-round, and the resort's position off the highway with easy interstate access simplifies both arrivals and departures. Guests seeking a full-service Albuquerque base with reliable hookups and proximity to the city's cultural and outdoor attractions will find the resort a consistently strong choice for any length of stay. The resort's southwestern-themed design and native landscaping reflect the character of the high desert setting and give the property a regional identity that distinguishes it from generic RV facilities elsewhere in the Albuquerque metro.

A big, accessible park outside of Albuquerque. Reasonable rates, a good off-leash dog area, and good facilities for shower, laundry, etc.
