Cloverdale/Healdsburg Campground
Alexander Valley, CA
61 RV Sites, 18 Cabins, 46 Tent Sites, 14 Lodges
Cloverdale Healdsburg Campground sits on a ridge overlooking the stunning Alexander Valley wine appellation in Sonoma County, California — a dark-sky certified campground that has been giving families, friends, and wine country travelers a place to slow down and soak up the sweet life in one of California's most beautiful agricultural landscapes for 34 years. At an elevation that provides sweeping views over the vineyards below and genuine stargazing after dark, this is wine country camping done right.
A sparkling swimming pool and spa, a peaceful fishing pond, a scenic nature trail, mini golf, paddle boats, a snack shop, a playground, and a dog park provide the on-site recreation for guests who want to stay close to camp. Deluxe cabins perched above the valley offer some of the most remarkable views in Alexander Valley wine country for guests arriving without their own RV, while RV and tent sites are woven through the ridgeline property with the informality of a campground that has grown comfortably into its landscape over more than three decades. The cloverdale healdsburg campground's dark-sky certification ensures that clear evenings above the vineyard-covered valley floor offer stargazing as memorable as the wine below. Pets are welcome.
The Alexander Valley is one of Sonoma County's most celebrated wine appellations — a warm inland valley where Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay grown in its volcanic and alluvial soils regularly outperform wines costing many times the valley-floor price. The campground's ridge position puts guests visually at the center of this landscape in a way that resort hotels simply cannot replicate.
More than 50 premium wineries operate within a few miles of the campground entrance — Jordan, Simi, and Alexander Valley Vineyards among the most recognized names anchoring a tasting itinerary that could sustain a full week. Healdsburg, about 15 minutes south, offers antiques, boutiques, and some of Sonoma County's most acclaimed four-star restaurants alongside the casual Dry Creek wine country nearby. Lake Sonoma provides boating, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, and canoeing on a scenic reservoir backed by oak-covered hills, and the Russian River's canoe and tubing routes through the redwood-shaded reaches below Guerneville offer a different kind of water recreation for guests who want to venture beyond the vines.
Cloverdale Healdsburg Campground is open year-round and most popular from May through October when Sonoma County weather is at its finest and the Alexander Valley's harvest and crush season adds a sensory dimension to any wine country visit. Reserve early for summer weekends and harvest stays — this is one of the most scenically positioned campgrounds in all of California wine country, and it books accordingly.
