Lake George Camping Village

Lake George, New York

118 RV Sites, 9 Cabins, 37 Tent Sites

Lake George Camping Village sits 1.7 miles from the southern shores of Lake George in New York's Adirondack foothills, providing a well-developed campground with full amenities in one of the Northeast's most popular and historically significant summer resort destinations. Lake George has drawn visitors from across the eastern seaboard since the nineteenth century, and the Camping Village serves as an affordable base for experiencing the lake's natural beauty, water recreation, and the concentration of historical attractions and commercial entertainment that make the village of Lake George one of the most visited inland destinations in New York State. The property's accommodation options include cabin rentals alongside traditional camping sites, and the on-site amenity package includes a swimming pool, mini-golf, and sports courts—a combination that keeps younger guests occupied on property when the schedule doesn't call for lake excursions or historical sightseeing. The campground's family-oriented programming and well-maintained grounds create a comfortable environment for multi-generational groups, and the 1.7-mile proximity to the lake provides convenient access to the village's public beach, marina, and the lake cruise boats that offer one of the most satisfying ways to appreciate the Adirondack mountain lake scenery. Lake George itself stretches 32 miles through the Adirondack foothills between the mountains of the eastern High Peaks region and the Green Mountains visible across the Vermont border to the east, occupying a glacially carved trough that has maintained its exceptional water clarity through a combination of watershed protection and lake management efforts. The lake's 109 miles of shoreline alternates between developed resort frontage in the south and protected wilderness islands in the north, where the Lake George Wild Forest and Lake George Islands State Campground preserve stretches of Adirondack forest accessible only by boat. Fort William Henry Museum at the south end of the lake presents the history of the French and Indian War engagement that made Lake George strategically significant in the mid-eighteenth century, with living history demonstrations and a partially reconstructed fort that bring the colonial era conflict vividly to life. The Great Escape amusement park provides a full-day family entertainment option within minutes of the campground, operating as one of the larger traditional theme parks in the Northeast. Fort Ticonderoga, approximately 50 miles north at the lake's outlet into Lake Champlain, is one of the most important preserved military fortifications in North America, protecting the same strategic water corridor that made the region the primary battleground of three successive colonial and revolutionary wars. Lake George Camping Village operates from late spring through Labor Day, with July and August representing peak season when the lake's water temperatures are ideal, the resort district's full programming is in operation, and the Adirondack summer visitor economy reaches maximum intensity. The village's accommodation inventory fills quickly during peak summer weekends, and the campground's pricing advantage over lake-view hotel options in the village makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious families who plan their Lake George visit around the outdoor recreation rather than the commercial district. Reservations for Independence Day and mid-August weekends are typically needed months in advance.
