Tijuana is a very young city, being just 122 years old, but even being young it is already the biggest city of the Baja California Peninsula. We'll begin our tour as we cross into Mexico and enter a world of contrasts. To kick things off we'll travel into the main street known for its historic roundabouts each with a statue of a hero, like Abraham Lincoln, Cuauhtémoc the Aztec King and many more. We’ll pass by the famous Cultural Center which is the main center of regional arts and has over 1 million visitors a year being one of the main tourist attractions in Tijuana.

Next, we will visit the demolished Tijuana Bullring, the Tijuana Water Tower and the Hipódromo. We’ll end our tour on the Avenida Revolución, which in the past was an important center of economic development and known as the center of prohibited entertainment for people from the US, for some shopping and bargaining. Currently, it is the center of tourist activity in Tijuana with its many cantinas, table dance bars, dance clubs, and art galleries. 

But before you go to the many little shops, you will experience the Tijuana tradition of making your own taco at the lovely restaurant La Placita. The taco is made with a delicious tortilla filled with meat, chicken or veggies, and all the trimmings such as guacamole, salsa, cilantro, and onion. You'll have the time of your life.

In our **Baja Mexico Grand Tour**, your adventure begins as we cross into Mexico and visit Tijuana, the fourth largest city in Mexico. We will go on a cultural sightseeing tour of the area with stops at the Cultural Center, the Tijuana Bullring, the Tijuana Zoo, the Tijuana Tower and then time for some shopping along Avenidad Revolution. You will make your way from beautiful Little Italy, into San Diego’s Old Town where you get a small flair of western and Mexican culture mixed together. From Old Town you will make your way into Point Loma towards Liberty Station which used to be the Naval Training Center of San Diego, when the training center closed in 1997 it was repurposed into a mixed used development with housing, recreational centers, business, hotels, and a few schools. From Liberty Station you will make your way to Shelter Island which gives you a great view of the Attack Submarine base. Making your way to Cabrillo National Monument and the Point Loma ecological preserve, you will see the old lighthouse that stood watch on the rocky shores and light up the dangerous waterways for many sailors and fishermen. You can also stop and look at the tide pools, where all sorts of aquatic creatures make their home. Berthed at the Navy Pier in downtown San Diego, the USS Midway was named in honor of the pivotal World
War II battle. She entered service a week after the war ended. The aircraft carrier would serve her country through
war and peace and during other historic and humanitarian events. The ship was renowned for her ability to stay on
station when other ships broke down and returned to port for repairs. She served as the launch pad for a captured
German V2 rocket and in a humanitarian relief role after the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines.
As a museum ship, the Midway provides an exciting opportunity for visitors to explore life aboard an aircraft carrier.
You can tour this legendary vessel from her boilers to her bridge. A general admission ticket provides access to a
self-guided audio tour that includes 60 separate exhibits located throughout the ship and more than 29 restored
aircraft. You will view several decks as you learn about life aboard an aircraft carrier and why these vessels are called
floating cities.

The tour includes the berthing areas for officers and sailors, the galley where over 13,000 meals were served each
day, the sick bay and pilot ready rooms as well as the hangar bay and flight deck. You will learn how the crew
produced water, powered the carrier and maintained the aircraft. Climb the ladders to the bridge and look down on
the more than 1,000-foot-long flight deck. Visit primary flight control, the location where the air boss oversaw flight
operations, and view the Fresnel lens, the part of the landing system that enabled pilots to "call the ball." You can
experience life as an aviator in the high-tech simulators and view music videos and short films.
