TOK RV Village and Cabins

We pride ourselves on cleanliness and friendly staff. The park is big-rig friendly with over 100 pull-throughs, tent sites, cabins, and all-new glamping tents. Each site has well-groomed trees and greenery to help submerge you in the complete Alaskan experience. When driving the Alaska Highway, the first Alaskan RV park you encounter is the Tok RV Village & Cabins (Mile 1313.4), built and run by the Jernigan’s, a longtime Alaska family. The campground opened in 1986, with 50 sites, and was developed the previous year while Jerry Jernigan worked on the Alaska pipeline (the reason he and his family moved from Portland, in 1975) and his wife, Rose, and son, Michael, were employed by a construction company in Anchorage. Over the following six summers, Jerry, Rose, and Michael commuted from Anchorage to Tok each weekend, as they oversaw the management of the park, added amenities, increased the number of sites (now 142), and improved services. Their hard work paid off, in July 2007 when the Good Sam RV Club gave Tok RV Village & Cabins its highest rating of any park in Alaska: 9.5 out of 10. Jerry, Rose, and Michael ran the park with the help of Michael’s son, Chad, and daughter, Ashley (both born and raised in the RV park). Rose was responsible for guest registrations, reservations, and operations of the gift store, while Jerry and Michael handle ongoing maintenance and improvements. The Jernigan’s pride themselves on the cleanliness of the RV park. “Clean is an understatement,” Jerry says. The park is big-rig friendly, with over 142 pull-throughs, with ample space and greenery between sites, Cabins, Tent sites, and Glamping tents. When asked what he appreciates most about the park, Michael says, “Everything works. Do you want 50amps? You get it. The breakers aren’t popping off, lots of hot water, washers, and dryers work, and the Wi-Fi Internet and cable TV are always up and running.” Jerry and Rose retired in 2016 and now live in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Michael runs the park with help from his wife Cindy and daughter Ashley. Tok Junction was chosen for the park for its location as a jumping-off point for all highway traffic entering and departing Alaska. It’s roughly a day’s drive from several major cities (Whitehorse is 400 miles to the east and Fairbanks is 212 miles away) and serves as an excellent place for a rest break, restocking supplies, and reviewing travel plans. The Jernigan’s are always eager to answer travel questions and assist with plans for visiting the “Last Frontier.”
