Wallicut River RV & Cabins Resort
Ilwaco, Washington
5 Cabins
Where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean at Washington's southwestern tip, Wallicut River RV & Cabins Resort anchors travelers in one of the most historically significant and scenically dramatic corners of the Pacific Northwest. Located in Ilwaco along Pacific County's wild coastline, the resort sits just 2.5 miles from Cape Disappointment State Park—named for the frustrating months Lewis and Clark spent searching for the Columbia's mouth—and serves as an ideal base for exploring the Long Beach Peninsula, the lower Columbia estuary, and the Oregon coast visible just across the river to the south.
The resort accommodates 68 RV spaces ranging from full hookups to partial hookups, alongside five cozy cabins and 35 tent sites for those who prefer a closer connection to nature. Showers, restrooms, fire pits, and picnic tables ensure the essentials are covered, while horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, a sports court, playground, and free WiFi keep families entertained between explorations. A grocery and convenience store plus an on-site snack bar and deli eliminate the need for supply runs, and propane exchange and a dump station handle the practical needs of self-sufficient RVers traveling along the Pacific coast. Beach access is nearby for those who want to feel sand between their toes.
Ilwaco's setting is spectacular in every direction—rugged basalt headlands, windswept dunes, tidal marshes teeming with shorebirds, and the enormous estuary of the Columbia River stretching east toward the Cascades. The Pacific Ocean pounds the open beaches of the Long Beach Peninsula just north, one of the longest uninterrupted beach strands in the United States. The convergence of river, ocean, and wetland creates an ecosystem rich with Dungeness crab, razor clams, surf perch, and the salmon and sturgeon that have drawn fishermen to this place for centuries.
Cape Disappointment State Park, minutes from camp, houses a superb Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center documenting the Corps of Discovery's 1805 arrival at the Pacific, along with two historic lighthouses, World War II–era gun emplacements, and miles of forest and coastal trails. The World Kite Museum in Long Beach celebrates the peninsula's international kite festival tradition, and the quirky Marsh's Free Museum—home to the beloved "Jake the Alligator Man"—is a classic roadside stop. Across the river in Oregon, Astoria's Victorian downtown, the Astoria Column, and Fort Clatsop National Memorial round out the historical and cultural offerings within an easy day trip.
Summer brings the Long Beach Peninsula's peak kite season, fresh razor clam digs, and warm beach days despite the persistent coastal breeze. Spring waterfowl migration through the Columbia estuary is spectacular, and fall draws salmon fishermen chasing chinook and coho from the river and the surf. The winter storm-watching season—when gale-force swells batter Cape Disappointment's headlands—has its own dramatic appeal for those undeterred by the Pacific Northwest rain. Reserve your site at Wallicut River RV & Cabins Resort and post up at one of the Pacific Northwest's most fascinating geographic crossroads.
