Dutch Treat Camping & Rec

Dutch Treat Camping opened in August of 1969. It all started out with Grandpa (Nelson) not liking the land being unused. Being a recent gravel pit that was excavated for the highway, while lower in the ground, made it perfect for private camping. The property is a big open area with both wooded and sand lots. We worked to have two ponds, one for fishing and one for swimming. In 1975, we filled in the swimming pond, and also added our first full hook-up. In August of 1975, we added the current pool. The camp has progressed into a popular family destination. Our two daughters, Darlene and Linda, run it. Our three boys come to help out when needed. It has been family-run and operated for three generations, all of whom are still active in its operation. Our Daughters, who you will see managing the office, are Linda and Darlene. Melissa, Kelsie, and Linda’s Daughters also work in the office. Linda currently lives in the staff housing at the entrance to the campgrounds.
