How do we get there? - Highland is located just 4 miles away from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and 5 miles from the town of Tusayan. - Our property is accessed via dirt and gravel roads, so we recommend an all-wheel-drive vehicle. - Although we think it’s part of the adventure, it may not be for everyone. - There is limited cell service on the drive, so we recommend downloading an offline map before heading out! How can I buy a Grand Canyon National Park Pass? - We recommend buying your park pass online ahead of time at: https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/74282 - Click "Help me choose a site pass," then select "Private Vehicle" and add it to your cart. - The pass costs $35 per vehicle and is valid for 7 days. You can also purchase passes in person: - At the IMAX Theater in Tusayan - Or directly at the main entrance gate to the park Planning to visit 3 or more national parks this year? - Consider getting the “America the Beautiful” annual pass for $80. - It covers entrance to all U.S. national parks and federal lands. You can buy it: - Online (they’ll mail you a physical pass—no mobile version available) - At the IMAX Theater - Or at the entrance gate Is there a minimum stay? - There is no minimum stay, however, we recommend a minimum stay of 2 nights. - We promise that our dreamy beds, stunning views, and peaceful location will make it worth your while! What times are check-in and check-out? - The check-in time is 3 PM, and the check-out time is 11 AM. - If you have any special requests regarding check-in or check-out times, please let us know ahead of time, and we will do our best to accommodate you. What are the communal bathrooms like? - Our shared bathrooms are clean and well-maintained, located in a separate building just a short walk from the tents. - Each fully private, lockable room includes a hot-water shower, sink, and flushing toilet. - We provide towels and eco-friendly body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. - We take conservation seriously, as we operate solely on solar power, so we kindly ask our guests to be mindful of water and power usage during their stay. Is there Wifi? - Of course! We've got you covered with free WiFi in our communal area, so you can easily stay connected with your loved ones and share all the exciting details of your adventure! Is there cell reception? - Cellphone coverage is spotty in Northern Arizona, including Highland! From our experience, Verizon and T-Mobile tend to work the best, but we recommend checking your provider's coverage map ahead of time to make sure you can stay connected Is there electricity? - Yes, but it's limited. - As we’re off-grid, all of our energy comes from solar power, so we operate within those limits. - There are no outlets in the bathrooms for blow dryers or straighteners. - In the tents, we offer portable chargers for your devices, but if you need power for a medical device, we recommend bringing your own power bank. - We do provide lanterns to help you navigate at night. Do the tents have heat and air conditioning? - No, but we provide heated mattress pads to keep you warm during chilly nights. - We also have fans and screened windows that can be opened to allow for cross-wind ventilation, which keeps the tents cool during hot summer days. Can we park in front of our tent? - There is a central parking lot at the camp. - From there, you can easily access your tent via a footpath, and we provide wagons to help you transport your luggage. - If you have mobility concerns, choose the Gamble Oak tent, which is fully ADA compliant and closest to the parking lot! Do you offer daily housekeeping? - No, we respect your privacy during your stay. However, if you'd like a mid-stay housekeeping service, just let us know, and we’d be happy to arrange it for you. Are you pet-friendly? - Absolutely, we're huge dog lovers and gladly welcome well-behaved pups! - You can bring up to two dogs with a maximum weight of 60 lbs each. - Just make sure to keep them on a leash that's no longer than 6 feet, and never leave them unattended. - Also, be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your dog. - If your dog damages anything in the accommodation, such as furniture, flooring, bedding, etc., you'll be responsible for paying a fee for repair or replacement. - And if your dog is noisy, vicious, or unruly, we won't be able to allow them to stay with us. - We take safety and comfort seriously for all our guests. - Please note that we only allow dogs at Highland, as other pets may be able to sneak out of the tents. - Thank you for understanding, and we can't wait to meet your dogs! Are you family-friendly? - Yes, Highland is very family-friendly and welcomes guests of all ages. - It's an ideal destination for families who want to experience the great outdoors together. - Our Pinyon and Ponderosa tents can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children (under 12) on camping cots. What is “Glamping”? - Glamping is a combination of glamorous and camping, which means you get to enjoy the great outdoors without having to give up any of the comforts or luxuries of home. - At Highland, our beautifully designed tents provide all the comforts of home, including comfortable beds and fresh linens. - Plus, our communal kitchen and gathering area make it easy to share stories and make new friends around the campfire. - As the closest glamping retreat to the national park, we're the perfect home base for exploring the breathtaking natural beauty of the Grand Canyon.
