Beaver Dam Campground
Berwick, Maine
44 RV Sites, 2 Cabins, 3 Tent Sites
5.01 reviewsIn the quiet countryside of Berwick in southern Maine, Beaver Dam Campground has earned a loyal following among New England campers who appreciate a well-run facility with a genuine sense of family character. The campground centers around a scenic on-site pond with a designated swimming area, offering 60 spacious sites that include waterfront and water-view options giving even standard RV pads a meaningful connection to the natural setting. Full hookups accommodate rigs up to 52 feet, and cabin rentals provide a comfortable turnkey alternative for guests who prefer not to set up a rig.
The on-site recreation lineup keeps guests engaged without forcing anyone off the property. A swimming pool serves as the main warm-weather gathering point alongside the pond's own swimming area. Mini golf, a game room, sports courts, and a playground give younger campers plenty of structure, while horseshoes and a general store serve those looking for simpler satisfactions. Boat docks give anglers and paddlers direct access to the pond, and canoes and kayaks can be taken out on the calm water. Laundry facilities and full hookup sites with WiFi make extended stays comfortable, and weekend-themed events and planned activities add a social energy to the campground through the season.
The pond is the natural focal point of any stay. Its calm surface reflects the surrounding Maine woodlands, and the waterfront sites that ring it give guests a morning view that sets the tone for the whole day. Fishing is popular from the docks and shore, and the overall atmosphere carries the particular quietness of a Maine summer that draws people back from other states and seasons. Gold panning and gem mining activities available at the campground offer an engaging and hands-on option that keeps the experience from growing predictable for repeat visitors.
Southern Maine's appeal extends in every direction from Berwick. The campground sits within thirty minutes of the beaches at Wells, Ogunquit, and the York coast—some of the most popular and beautiful shoreline in New England. Vaughan Woods State Park and Orris Falls Conservation Area both offer nearby trail options for hikers and nature walkers. Hackmatack Playhouse, a beloved regional community theater staging summer productions near the campground, is practically next door. The shopping and dining of downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the outlet shopping of Freeport, Maine, are both within range for day trips.
Beaver Dam Campground operates as a warm-weather destination and fills up quickly during summer when the combination of pond access, beach proximity, and family-friendly programming makes it a natural choice for New England family vacations. Summer weekends and weeks should be reserved as early as possible, and cabin rentals book faster than most other site types. Whether you're coming for a classic Maine summer getaway, a coastal camping trip with daily beach runs, or simply a quiet pond in a well-run campground, Beaver Dam delivers on the straightforward promise of what good family camping can be. Book early and secure your piece of southern Maine.
