**Sports Medicine Center:** Equipped with a nuclear scintigraphy unit and high-speed diagnostic treadmill, the Center’s goal is to provide the latest in diagnostics, relating to lameness or poor-performance horses. 

**Equine Reproduction Center (PSERC): **Peterson & Smith established the state-of-the-art reproductive center. Situated in the southern part of Marion County, the PSERC conducts all aspects of assisted reproduction. We maintain one of the largest recipient mare herds in the southeastern United States.  Our experience, expertise, and facilities allow us to offer different options by which a breeder can participate in a successful ET program.

GoldMark owner, Paul Bulmahn is your tour guide of this truly remarkable thoroughbred farm and the American Triple Crown Museum. 

Start the morning viewing either thoroughbred breezing as they prepare their legs to run on tracks across the country or dressage training as horses and riders who competed in the 2020 Olympics. (As a working farm, the itinerary may change depending on the activity at the farm.) This is followed by a walking tour of equine rehabilitation facilities and stalls, each featuring a mattress for horses’ beauty rest.  

GoldMark Farm trained graduates have won Grades I, II, and III stakes races and have competed in such prestigious races as the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Oaks, and the Breeders Cup Championship races. A GoldMark resident dressage trainer who competed in two Olympics and is preparing her students at the farm. 

Paul Bulmahn is an equine historian.  His museum tour features the history of all 13 Triple Crown winners from 1919 to today.  His accounts of the history are fascinating, to say the least.

de Meric Stables & Sales specializes in the breaking and training of young horses in preparation for the racetrack. Their pinhooking partnerships and preparation of 2-year-olds continue to separate us from the competition.

Jaqui’s main focus is the breaking program, where she uses “resistance-free” techniques. She introduces the yearlings to tack and riders in a round pen, using trained ponies and a ‘flag’ to desensitize flighty yearlings before a rider is introduced. The yearlings spend several weeks jogging patterns in the field and trail riding before beginning the next phase of training on the track.

The tour will begin at the Main Office and will immediately depart to the barns which house our current thoroughbreds in training.  There, you will learn about the history of the McKathan Brothers Farm and be introduced to the horses.  Owners, Leigh McKathan or Keven McKathan, will explain what they look for when selecting young horses to train to be the next world champion. Open communication and questions are welcomed! 

McKathan Brothers have trained young horses since 1989. In 1999, they built the McKathan Brothers Training Center, situated upon 200 acres in Citra. The last two Triple Crown winners, American Pharoah in 2015 and Affirmed in 1978, learned how to race in Marion County as two-year-old Thoroughbreds.

As close business associates of Bob Baffert, Hall of Fame Trainer, and McKathan Brothers are key in the early training of world champions.
