Wekiva Falls RV Resort in Sorrento, Florida, provides an adult-oriented resort camping destination in Lake County near the legendary Wekiva River system, where Florida's most celebrated spring-run river emerges from the karst aquifer in crystalline 68-degree water that has made the Wekiva Springs and Rock Springs corridor one of Florida's premier natural springs destinations for paddlers, swimmers, and wildlife observers year-round. The resort's bar, dining, live music, and pickleball programming create a social resort atmosphere that serves both the active adult community and the nature recreation visitors whose Sorrento area stays center on the Wekiva River's ecological magnificence in one of the most significant freshwater natural systems in central Florida.
The resort's social and recreation infrastructure reflects its entertainment-oriented character: a bar, dining facility, live music and entertainment programming, pool, fitness center, pickleball courts, shuffleboard, clubhouse, library, kayak rentals for Wekiva River access, walking trails, dog park, laundry, and Wi-Fi provide both active and passive recreation options across the social and natural spectrum. Full hookup sites and open year-round operations serve the extended-stay and snowbird community that Lake County's proximity to Orlando's commercial infrastructure makes particularly appealing, and the kayak rental operation serves the resort's position as an access point for the Wekiva River's natural paddling corridor. Planned activities and picnicking supplement the entertainment and outdoor recreation programming.
The Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run State Reserve, adjacent to Sorrento, protects the spring runs and surrounding longleaf pine flatwoods and bottomland forest in a state-managed wilderness corridor where West Indian manatees winter in the warm spring water, otters play in the current, and the Florida black bear population—one of the most successfully managed bear recovery programs in the Southeast—roams the scrub and flatwood habitat in densities uncommon in central Florida's increasingly developed landscape. The crystal clarity of the spring water, generated by the Floridan Aquifer's limestone filtration, creates underwater visibility measured in 50-plus feet that makes snorkeling and swimming in the spring head pools a genuinely otherworldly experience.
Wekiwa Springs State Park, approximately 15 miles south near Apopka, provides the most accessible public entry point to the Wekiva River system's spring swimming and canoe launch facilities, and the Rock Springs Run Canoe Trail—a 8.5-mile paddling route from Rock Springs to King's Landing—delivers the most secluded and ecologically rich Florida spring paddling experience within the greater Orlando metropolitan area. The Little Wekiva River's connection to the broader Wekiva Basin's protected corridor creates a contiguous natural landscape of remarkable ecological integrity immediately adjacent to the resort's Lake County location.
Wekiva Falls RV Resort operates year-round in Lake County's subtropical climate, with the Wekiva River's spring water maintaining its constant 68-degree temperature regardless of season—making it Florida's most refreshing warm-weather swimming and paddling destination in summer and the most comfortable natural swimming experience in winter when air temperatures drop to levels that the spring water's constant warmth counteracts. The live music and bar programming creates a year-round social calendar that distinguishes this resort from purely recreation-focused properties, and the manatee viewing season from November through March—when the warm springs attract large concentrations of Florida's iconic aquatic mammals—creates a wildlife tourism draw specific to the winter months.
